Alake of Egbaland Celebrate
Abeokuta, Nigeria — The ancient city of Abeokuta shimmered with cultural pride and regal splendor as dignitaries, traditional rulers, citizens, and well-wishers from across Nigeria and the diaspora gathered to honor His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Michael Aremu Adedotun Gbadebo, CFR, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
The week-long celebration, themed “A Legacy of Service, Culture, and Unity,” showcased the depth of Egba heritage and the enduring influence of Oba Gbadebo’s leadership since his coronation in 2005. From traditional processions and interfaith thanksgiving services to academic lectures and youth-centered events, the anniversary was both a tribute to his past and a vision for the future of Egbaland.
